Between the snow and muck that can get dragged in each time someone enters your place and the colds and flu that are usually going around, winter is not the time to slack on your cleaning routine. Therefore, if you want to help keep your family or coworkers clean and illness-free this winter season, it’s important to invest in the right kinds of cleaning products. You’ll want supplies that’ll not only get any winter-related dirt out of your space but also kill any germs and bacteria that may lead to sickness.

A Mop
If you live in an area that sees a lot of snow, then you’re almost certainly going to bring some of it inside with you every time you enter your space. That is why it is so important to include a mop in your winter cleaning arsenal, as it will help you soak up the extra dirt and moisture that can get tracked all over your floors.
A mop on its own is likely not going to be enough for some of those especially muddy winter days, so it’s also a good idea to use it with a floor cleaner on a regular basis. You can just mix up some soap and water to do the job or go out and purchase a floor cleaning solution. If you decide to go with a cleaning solution, though, make sure it’s safe for your type of floors.
Paper Towels or Lint-Free Cloths (or Both!)
While a mop is ideal for cleaning and disinfecting your floors during the winter, it can be a little awkward trying to use it on other types of surfaces. Instead, consider using some paper towels and/or lint-free cloths to get at those smaller, more manageable messes.
If you are really concerned about germs during the winter (as many people are), then using paper towels to clean your place is probably your best option. They are typically only used once before they are thrown away, so if they happen to pick up any germs, they will hopefully be disposed of in the garbage before they have any chance of infecting others.
On the other hand, if you don’t want to be going through a ton of paper towels this winter, then consider investing in a bunch of lint-free cloths. The reason that lint-free is important is that everything tends to be extra staticky in the colder months, and you may not be able to clean as effectively if your cloths are full of lint. If you want to keep these cloths as germ-free as possible, make sure you wash them frequently with hot, soapy water.
Disinfecting Wipes
To help prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria during the winter months, the surfaces in your place that are often touched should be disinfected on a regular basis. Disinfecting wipes are a convenient way to clean doorknobs, countertops, faucets, and any other hard surfaces that may come into contact with potentially germy hands.
As we all know, there are MANY other products that can be added to this toolkit and we encourage you to make a list. As with anything the building blocks of a successful and clean home start with the basics and we believe it to be these three items for the winter!
